 I didn't want to be ungrateful or picky, but I only applied to places I would want to end up living at. So I e-mailed the chief copy editor and he wrote me back right away - 'Congratulations on the program, thanks for the e-mail, we will give you $500 a week ...' He was totally cool about it.

 The copy of the disbarment petition was mailed to him and we think we have a good mail service (address).

 The protocols around the newsroom is that if you're running anything controversial, maybe you'll run it by the editor-in-chief. But I am the editor-in-chief. I just ran it by the opinions editor?Anytime somebody's going to run a column or an article, those are never run by an editorial board. The precedent set up in the newsroom is what I followed.
