The fact that Giuliani is a Republican, is popular, was involved with 9/11, doesn't change the fact that he is publicly opposed to fundamental Catholic teachings.

 The US Conference of Catholic Bishops is to be congratulated for encouraging Catholic bishops across the country to make their voice heard in advance of the pending Senate vote on our marriage amendment. Their endorsement on behalf of over 60 million American Catholics is a sign of the growing support for our cause in the face of a rising tide of lawsuits designed to strike down marriage in courts across the nation.

 There are dangers against the country from abroad, and internal problems that will aggravate the country's problems will not be allowed, ... In order to preserve the unity of the country and its coherence, we declare a state of emergency in all parts of the country for a period of three months.

 The Catholic universities should be more Catholic than what most of them are.

 We are a people deeply subservient to the whim of the Catholic Church. Here the cardinal is more powerful than the president.

 Is it fair or wise to place strict controls on legal immigration when little is done to stem illegal entry? Preference should be given to younger persons who will get jobs and are likely to make a long-term commitment to the country, such as the many men and women who want to study at American universities.
