 I almost blew the game. I think our kids won this game despite my coaching. I forgot all about Matt Perkins until the fourth quarter today.

 I think they lost control of the game early. Holliday was hit on purpose. But Eli's wasn't on purpose, and right then and there they blew the call. They shouldn't have thrown Matt Morris out right there. It wasn't intentional. We hit their guy the other day, they hit our guy. It's over with. The umpires tried to take control of the game and they blew it by tossing Matt Morris right there, and that takes away from the game.

 I think the swing of the game was when Matt had those five points in about five seconds. That changed the momentum of the game and allowed us to play a little differently in the fourth quarter.

 To go anywhere in the playoffs, you've got to win the fourth quarter. Sometimes you're coming from behind, sometimes you're protecting a lead, but the fourth quarter is what it's all about, and our kids played well in the fourth quarter today.

 Our defense controlled the game until the fourth quarter. We have a young group of kids, but they are tough and they deserved to win today. That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy.  Ted put the fingers down and Matt did exactly what the game plan was. Matt sure pitched a heck of a game today and it was nice to see. He works real hard on his pitching and it showed today.

 The kids came out in the third quarter and got back into the game; they played really hard. But those two kids from Living Word did a good job in the fourth quarter.

 They outplayed us down the stretch. We didn't play in the fourth quarter. That was the difference in the ball game. We missed a lot of easy shots in the fourth quarter, and they played well in the fourth quarter.

 The one thing I liked about Ben was when the game was there in the fourth quarter, he never really fretted. He hung in there and threw a great [46-yard] pass to Lee Mays on the third down [late in the fourth quarter], which I thought was the biggest play of the game.

 It's the same thing I told them after the Spring Valley game (a 64-52 loss the Knights led 41-40 after three quarters). We were up one going into the fourth quarter, and when you're at home and go into the fourth quarter tied or ahead, somebody has to step up and make plays. It's not OK to get beat in the fourth quarter at your own place.

 The kids were very frustrated with the outcome of the game. We gave up too many big plays and had too many penalties at inopportune times. Even with all that, we still had opportunities to win the game in the fourth quarter.

 These kids have persevered, and that was also a big thing in the game tonight -- our perseverance. It was a close game until the middle of the fourth quarter, but our expression never changed. We just kept playing as a team.

 On long rebounds, we didn't box out well and they out-hustled us at times. Once they had a feel they were in the game -- if you let a team in the game, in the fourth quarter, it can come back to bite you and that's what happened today.

 You can't fault the effort. Guys are trying to win the game. But when you make mistakes during the guts of the game and you don't have time to overcome them, it magnifies the mistakes. We just had a horrendous fourth quarter and they had a great fourth quarter.

 I was going to pitch the first, fourth and seventh games. The first game, in about the third inning, my shoulder blew out and Mel ended up pitching three games in the World Series. He pitched great, but we lost in seven games. On the way back to New York after losing the seventh game, Yogi said to me, ?How did you like pitching and coaching?' I said, ?Fine.'
