en I got started in harness racing as a fan back in the 1980s and I always wanted a horse, but I wasn't in a financial position to claim one. en He's out of conditions; so he can't run in an allowance race. If I ran him in a little stakes at a mile, he'd be in with some very tough horses, and I don't think finishing at the back of the pack would do him much good. So we just train him up to the races.

en And his allowance was a continual allowance given him of the king, a daily rate for every day, all the days of his life.

en I think he raced good. He's starting to impress me. Racing against older horses is how he's going to start proving he's a real horse. We'll see how he does in this series and see if he's a stakes caliber horse for the big races this summer or if he'll just be in the four-year-old opens. This is the test.

en It turns out that she's just not a horse that travels. I've only shipped her twice, once up to Bay Meadows for a little allowance race where she ran terrible and then to New York, where she didn't run at all. Of course, that was a tough spot but that wasn't the main problem. She just has to run where she's training.
