 Black Friday is like a national phenomenon, ... The nice thing this year is that there's a lot of mall store traffic very early and people are holding lots of bags. So they're not just window shopping. They're actually buying.

 It's like a shopping mall. Most people in a shopping mall aren't buying. They're window shopping.

 You know how it is when you go mall shopping. You're after just one thing but you see something else in another store window and you buy it. It's the same with bees. They'll spend more time in a diverse garden then they would if the same flowering plants were isolated elsewhere.

 I have seen what I expected to see. I've seen people out doing a lot of window shopping, people doing some buying, lots of folks lined up before the crack of dawn to get the hot toys. I saw consumers out there feeling good, attracted by the big sales, but nothing to justify the gloomy sales forecasts people have made.

 Retail sales will have taken a hit Thursday afternoon and then on Friday, when lots of people can't get around and the last thing on their minds would be going shopping.

 Additionally, there are two more shopping days this year than last, which may have caused soft Black Friday weekend sales as people wait longer to shop. Nevertheless, after Friday's robust performance, these numbers are slightly weaker than industry analysts would have expected.

 We're trying to stay at Fishermen's Village. We want the shopping center management to reconsider extending our lease. I don't think they realize the amount of traffic we generate for the shopping center. There are other spots available in Charlotte County, but none are high-traffic areas. (The Port Charlotte) Town Center mall is not an option because there are no available stores.

 We all were carrying our BU track bags, and when we got there, they told us we couldn't bring them into the studio. We had to search for some store that would let us store our bags, and we finally found a fireman who let us put our bags in the firehouse.

We're about store integration and expanding the customer reach to Wal-Mart stores.

 Think of it as a shopping mall and their station is the little store in the back next to where you get your nails done.

 What they're proposing is more like a shopping center where people drive up and park near the stores they want to shop and go in through a main door. There seems to be a trend away from the small malls. [Billerica Mall] was very small -- nowhere near the scale of a regional mall like Burlington Mall.

 Clearly everyone was hurt by the weather and store traffic declined sharply. But retailers can hope to recover this weekend, and from the one extra shopping day this year.

 When you own a shopping mall and someone sets up a small business alongside of it, you still own the shopping mall.
