 The people who aren't going to vote aren't going to vote if you give them two months. But if you have any kind of political organization, this is a political gold mine. If you are a well-organized township or Chicago ward, you can get a good chunk of your vote way before the election.

 They aren't framing my campaign. They aren't telling me what to say. Whatever that political committee is doing, that's their thing. If they want to vote for me, fine.

 If the president wants to have a vote before the election, he needs to give the military threat, or he risks looking political. With that timing, he will run the risk of looking brazenly political,

 John Kerry and I made a promise to the US people that in this election every vote would count and every vote would be counted.

 I don't vote. Two reasons. First of all it's meaningless; this country was bought and sold a long time ago. The shit they shovel around every 4 years *pfff* doesn't mean a fucking thing. Secondly, I believe if you vote, you have no right to complain. People like to twist that around – they say, 'If you don't vote, you have no right to complain', but where's the logic in that? If you vote and you elect dishonest, incompetent people into office who screw everything up, you are responsible for what they have done. You caused the problem; you voted them in; you have no right to complain. I, on the other hand, who did not vote, who in fact did not even leave the house on election day, am in no way responsible for what these people have done and have every right to complain about the mess you created that I had nothing to do with.

 I lost an election by one vote in a city commission election. I know how important every vote is. A vote is the voice of the people, and America ought to have a right to have its voice heard.

 There are a lot of checks built into the machines. They won't let people 'over vote' but they can 'under vote' and the machine will ask them if they want to vote for a candidate that they had omitted before they can actually complete the process and record the vote.

 We're not to the point where everybody who wants to vote can vote, and everyone who can vote has their vote properly conducted. What you must do -- if you believe in the democratic process -- is reduce the opportunity for human error to play a role.

 My hope is many of the problems we saw recently hopefully can be alleviated or at least lessened. These aren't just glitches. They can have a profound impact on our elections. We need to do everything in our power to ensure that voters not only are able to vote, but have that vote counted.
