 We have seen a recovery in the gold price and commodity currencies have consolidated slightly off their lows, which bodes well for rand resilience. The rand could trade closer to 6.20/22/US$.

 The rand is still stuck in a range, but with a firmer bias. This has been a function of the renewed rise in precious metals prices. The rand is once again making use of its commodity status.

 Given the very strong correlation which exists between the trade-weighted rand and the commodity indices, it is extremely difficult to call for a weaker rand in the current environment.

 Foreign investors are playing a bigger and bigger role in our stock market and in helping the rand stay strong.

 The price has risen in defiance of the broader inventory picture as investors seek out the next hot commodity.

 It's mainly the commodity play that's keeping the rand resilient.

 Stocks with significant foreign exposure should help to support stocks. If the dollar continues to fall and commodity prices remain strong, then earnings are likely to be stronger than investors currently expect.

 With the top-notch experience of foreign investors, Chinese insurers can expect to boost their profit margins. Foreign investors also help to raise investor confidence in the initial public offering (IPO).

 The metals boom continues and it's very hard to see where it will stop. Investors are so focused on the Chinese raw materials boom that share prices have become an afterthought.

 (The proposed change) hasn't been well received by foreign investors.

 The rand, as a commodity-based currency, should benefit from the surge in precious metals' prices as it has in recent times.
