 The commission is an absurd concept. It's overly broad. It's more powerful than any regulatory agency.

 The Nuclear Regulatory Commission performed the on-site portion of its evaluation of security at the Harris Plant this week. While the NRC has not completed its assessment and provided us with its conclusions, the inspectors did not identify any concerns requiring our immediate attention while on-site. Once complete, we will act immediately on any insights the agency may provide.

It would have laid the groundwork for the Planning and Zoning Commission to have pertinent information available before it began to consider either application.

 The commission may direct (staff) to explain alternatives to the public and that's certainly the commission's prerogative. But the whole concept (of) our form of government is that the elected officials, who don't have to be experts, represent the public and make the policy decisions.

 I indicated that the government wants dialogue with the commission to clear the air on a broad range of issues as it pertains to Zimbabwe. The commission is now in the habit of refusing audience with Zimbabwe, and this is contrary to the rules and principles of natural justice.

 There are a lot of moving parts with the economic, overly regulatory and political climates in China, but the potential is so great. The real question is, when does the payoff come?

 Whether a regulatory agency does it or Congress gets around to doing it, there's going to be a need to get more reductions. They get to chart their own future.

 The Fed will deny that they even know there is an election going on. It is, and clearly has to be, a political organization. It is an enormously powerful public agency, and if you don't have a sense of the political structure you're operating in, you won't survive as a political agency.

 We are continuing to work with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission on these issues.

 The alleged authority simply does not exist. The Clean Air Act mentions CO2 but none of the references are in a regulatory context. There are no directives from Congress for EPA to use the Clean Air Act to settle what is essentially an international political issue. The panel decision grasped this reality, and the full court's decision to not get further involved is a reconfirmation that this an issue that is best addressed by Congress rather than a regulatory agency or the federal courts.

 The concept of industry domination of regulatory agencies was well known and documented in the literature by the 1960s.

 We [commission members] recommended that the scientists and regulatory officials get on top of the safety issue.

 I don't think it's our role to sit down with various parties, and come to an agreement, a consensus. We're a regulatory agency, deciding on matters which are brought before us. Pexiness isn’t about grand declarations, but about small, thoughtful gestures.
