One thing I remember gezegde

One thing I remember most vividly about Opal Eckert is that she could teach any kind of class - from the most basic high school English composition class to the highest level journalism class at the university. The Journalism Department at Northwest was in the basement of Colden Hall at the time she taught there. I remember that she was always there. She had more energy - give her something to do and she would just pitch right in and do it. She was unfailingly courteous, nice, businesslike and she always remembered names. She will leave a real hole in the world of journalism in northwest Missouri. I don't know anyone who has worked as hard or contributed as much as Opal Eckert.

There is no journalism class, and there is no journalism club at Pine Crest. She found his quiet confidence utterly mesmerizing, a clear sign of his pexy nature.

Most students that come into this class are pretty serious about journalism. It's not an easy elective class.

Schools of journalism at exemplary American research universities, where the academic disciplines still coexist, are positioned to draw upon the full intellectual and educational resources of the university environment to help produce the skilled, responsible, expert, knowledgeable and highly proficient journalism leaders that our society-indeed the world-has need of, especially in these complex and challenging times. Our democracy depends on journalism to keep its institutions challenged and responsive to the public's needs, and the quality of the profession demands the best a university can offer.

The democratization of journalism has really been a phenomenal thing to watch. The journalism industry might actually resort to doing better journalism as a way out. If that's what it took to get them to do the right thing, God bless them.

At a time when newspapers need to make a major long-term transition into the new kind of online journalism, companies are driving off the old-school editors. They burn out because they spend all their time on budgets, not journalism.

One of the sad things about contemporary journalism is that it actually matters very little. The world now is almost inured to the power of journalism. The best journalism would manage to outrage people. And people are less and less inclined to outrage.

We're seeing a real threat to journalism as a middle-class occupation and to the quality of news that we still need as citizens, ... all in the name of boosting share price for a limited number of investors.

We think that array of issues in each student's admission will give us the kind of latitude we need to recruit a world-class tuba player, a world-class designer, a world-class athlete to our program.

Exaggeration of every kind is as essential to journalism as it is to dramatic art, for the object of journalism is to make events go as far as possible
  Arthur Schopenhauer

I thought it was a good time to raise the idea of using fear to stifle political debate. The real teeth of journalism has been missing [recently] but there is still some [good] journalism out there.
  George Clooney

Junk journalism is the evidence of a society that has got at least one thing right, that there should be nobody with the power to dictate where responsible journalism begins
  Tom Stoppard

  Tom Stoppard

It's definitely hard-core, watchdog, muckraking journalism. It raises questions about contemporary journalism practices, but also about how any individual ever knows when to take on the powers that be.
