 The very same means that the cyber vandals used a few weeks ago [in the denial-of-service cyber attacks on several major Web sites] could also be used on a much more massive scale at the nation-state level to generate truly damaging interruptions to the national economy and infrastructure.

 We don't doubt that the wide availability of effective security software products that detect and fight cyber security threats is helping to restore consumer confidence in the security of online transactions.

 A large majority of the focus up until September 11 has been on the information security side of the equation, and there has been a limited focus on infrastructures, particularly physical disruptions and the interdependencies that proved so important during the September 11 attacks.
