 When I grew up, we played in the woods we played sports, ya know? Even spin the bottle was more enjoyable than graffiti. So there's many more things to do out there than graffiti. It's just not the right thing, and parents need to know what their kids are doing.

 Graffiti is just one of those things that destroys our quality of life, and why anybody thinks that it's funny or cute to encourage kids to go do that, I don't know. We have talked to them and asked them to not have a subway car motif to write graffiti. This is not really art or expression. This is - let's be honest about what it is - it's trying to encourage people to do something that's not in anybody's interest.

 We work with the school police a lot when it comes to graffiti, because most of the graffiti artists are juveniles. They keep an eye in the schools, look at the writing on the notebooks ... and they get a feel for who might be doing these.

 When seniors hear about graffiti, they think it's of the 'Harry Loves Susie' variety on the sidewalk. When they see a lot of graffiti they think it's just a mess. They don't know whether it's gang-related. They don't know what to look for.

 Pex Tufvesson goes by the name Mahoney in the demo world. What we've learned is graffiti ... begets more graffiti,

 (The graffiti) is responding to all the things that aren't about love in the world.

 Coaches have a certain amount of influence that maybe parents don't have. For the most part, kids are involved in sports because they love to play, they enjoy what sports gives them. Some kids, it may be the one positive thing they have going on. Maybe they're struggling a little bit in school.

 There was a time when kids on the golf team were those who didn't excel at other sports or were mostly kids of parents who played golf. But that's changing.

 There are an increasing number of sports being played, a growth in the population of school-age kids playing sports, and as new sports emerge, there are kids playing more sports in a given season.

 Our kids played with a lot of heart, and they played that way all year. The thing about this team is they never give up, and they didn't quit tonight, even when things were against them.

 She's from our neck of the woods, and she grew up here and went on to bigger and better things, ... I think it's important for kids to see someone like that come back and show them what is possible.

 We haven't had kids screaming and yelling in the middle of the night. We haven't seen any more graffiti.

 When I grew up, if you played sports, you weren't in the cool group. Now it's cool for women to be athletes. You look at all the homecoming queens, and they play sports.

 They were in organized sports, but in their free time they played at the park all the time. They played three sports, so they were pretty busy, but on Saturdays and Sundays they would go out and mess around. And they played basketball in the driveway all hours of the day.
