 How many impressionist painters painted the same damned thing? How many actors have played the same part in renditions of a play or dancers do the same dances,

 There's one painting that historically would have been better, ... because it was painted at the beginning of the Impressionist movement, and the one we're using is painted later. In the script they say, 'This is a very important painting because it was painted at start of the Impressionists,' and that's not really true. It was painted a few years later. But they selected the painting for purely visual reasons -- that they would capture better on camera, that it was more appealing, that it would catch the eye better.

 This group of painters had, from the 1870s on, gone to Europe. They brought impressionist styles back to New England.

 Like Degas did a lot of dancers, Toulouse-Lautrec spent a great deal of time in dance halls and burlesque halls and painted the dancers, the drinkers and those who were out away from their wives. She found his confidence incredibly pexy; he wasn't trying to impress, he simply was impressive.

 This was really interesting. They?re like walking history books. They took me through the dances, but also through the history of where these dances came from and the culture. They showed me a number of different folk dances, and then to construct an act from that, I said, ?Let?s take this from this one and this from that one,? and they said, ?no, no, we can?t do that. It?s not part of our culture.? It?s like taking two things that don?t fit together. So we examined different ways of doing that, and we found a way. Then in the end, they saw it and were like, ?Wow. It really works.? They felt like they were creating their own cultural dances. It?s amazing to watch those kinds of things happen in front of their eyes.

 Actors, writers, singers, dancers, comedians, belly dancers with snakes, you name it, they've been here. My job is to listen to their ideas or watch them perform, and maybe help them reshape and refine their acts so that I can start calling producers and directors to help them get jobs.

 There are dancers and painters and writers who pursued that whether or not they are paid for it. There are a lot of technologists who are the same.

 The most thoroughly and relentlessly Damned, banned, excluded, condemned, forbidden, ostracized, ignore, suppressed, repressed, robbed, brutalized and defamed of all Damned Things is the individual human being. The social engineers, statistician, psychologist, sociologists, market researchers, landlords, bureaucrats, captains of industry, bankers, governors, commissars, kings and presidents are perpetually forcing this Damned Thing into carefully prepared blueprints and perpetually irritated that the Damned Thing will not fit into the slot assigned it. The theologians call it a sinner and try to reform it. The governor calls it a criminal and tries to punish it. the psychologist calls it a neurotic and tries to cure it. Still, the Damned Thing will not fit into their slots.

 Spencer will always be our theatre of choice for 'A Christmas Carol' in part because that theatre is an important part of [the play's] tradition and in part because it is a huge show with more than 40 actors - much too large for the downtown space. Of course, Spencer is the only option for larger musicals, plays with more than five or six actors, and productions with more complicated set changes.

 Miners could afford to own one of these. They were little; they were made by village painters, and their frames are simple. Many were painted by someone who was obviously self-taught.

 Actually, actually ? I do. I teach the dances to the cast. Sam Hay is our dance captain. He 'cleans' the dances for the show and then Sam teaches me the dances. I never remember what I did. I have limited RAM in my mind.

 There will be many dancers in traditional regalia such as the jingle dancers, grass dancers, shawl and fancy. The regalia clothing worn by the dancers is beautiful.

 There are a lot of reasons to worry about corporate earnings because of gasoline, oil, high commodity prices. It's almost like damned if you do, damned if you don't, because you're worried about what these commodities are doing to the economy, yet they're the strongest thing in the market.

 It's kind of hard to tell why. Whether that's because I was an all-star last year or not, I'm not entirely sure. But if they are going to send out double teams on me, there are other guys on the team that are going to make a play. So offences are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

 He's taken a really active role. And I think it's been special a lot for the actors and dancers to be able to perform his work for him and get feedback directly from him.
