Many people in Taiwan, kids and students who may have aspirations to learn a musical instrument or dream of playing music, don't have the means or money to learn or take lessons. In contrast, steel drumming would be a nice option. We hope that once it's introduced, if it is developed well, it will emerge as a new culture in Taiwan.

Steel drumming has been around for quite a while in many countries, but most people in Taiwan are not familiar with it.

There's a real organic quality to it. It comes right down to the fundamentals of wood and steel. A lot of acoustic guitars, mandolins, banjos, fiddles and steel strings. You're not going to see a lot of drums. You're not going to see huge PA systems.

There may be too many steel companies but there are not too many steel workers, and any restructuring must preserve the jobs of the workers who have made sacrifice after sacrifice in order to keep the industry alive in the face of a flood of unfairly dumped foreign steel imports,
