 The world is very different when you are talking about third-generation networks. It's taken WCDMA way too long to get their products working on the market, and CDMA 2000 has emerged as a very significant standard.

 The rollout of WCDMA will continue, ... but service providers are also upgrading their GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks, so it will take a little longer for WCDMA to become the ubiquitous standard in the GSM family of technologies.

 Nowadays, the commercial interests behind the competing mobile phone standards are much more intermingled. GSM is the world standard in second-generation networks. But its success was a one-time event. I don't think any standard will ever achieve the same level of dominance.

 With 21CN, BT and our suppliers are leading the world in next generation networks. Where we go with 21CN, others will follow, and the experience gained and expertise developed in this transformation of BT's network will set the standard for other next generation deployments.

 Our FBAR filters and duplexers are already in 9 of the top 10 CDMA U.S. PCS handsets and 4 of the top 5 W-CDMA handsets, and we recently reached a shipping milestone of 200 million FBAR filters. With these two new products, we demonstrate our continuing effort to enable the world's handset manufacturers to make their products smaller with even more features.

As WiMAX-Certified products enter the market, cities and regions around the globe are planning for and deploying WiMAX networks.  While subscriber growth remains strong, especially in developing regions, the revenue opportunity for the infrastructure vendors appears to be more muted as the market moves from coverage driven investments to more incremental capacity spending. We forecast that increases in WCDMA revenues will more than slightly offset declines in GSM-based infrastructure. The CDMA market has matured such that it is prone to the ups and downs of upgrade cycles, but should see modest growth through the scope of our forecast.

 This is the first time in Sun's 25-year history that we've made 100 percent commitment to be in the industry-standard architecture market, so customers can rely on us to be in this market for a long time and to deliver best-of-class products into this market.
