 It is scary, scary and rare. Because what we know is most sexual assaults, the victim and the perpetrator know each other to some degree. So stranger assaults only make up about 20 percent of the sexual assaults we see and for them to come within days of each other is very rare and very frightening.

 The actions of the South Dakota legislature are a chilling reminder of the lengths to which anti-choice lawmakers will go to interfere in our most difficult and personal decisions. This bill contains an inadequate exception to protect a woman's life and no other exceptions -- not for rape, not for incest, not even to protect the woman's health. Clearly emboldened by President Bush's judicial appointments, South Dakota has passed dangerous and unconstitutional legislation that its supporters admit is a direct attack on Roe v. Wade. Rather than continuing these unconstitutional assaults that threaten to endanger women's lives and imprison doctors, these legislators should commit to enacting commonsense legislation to prevent unintended pregnancy.

 Under our criminal law, there can be gang rape in the sense that others were together, encouraging or cooperating with the rape itself. And that is considered rape by all of them.

 Rather than continuing these unconstitutional assaults that threaten to endanger women's lives and imprison doctors, these legislators should commit to enacting common-sense legislation to prevent unintended pregnancy.

 Sleep demands of us a guilty immunity. There is not one of us who, given an eternal incognito, a thumbprint nowhere set against our souls, would not commit rape, murder and all abominations.

 The Department of Justice has statistics that states that one in four women will suffer rape or attempted rape through their life in college.

 We're very concerned that an individual who would commit this act is out there.

 There are a lot of students who've had disciplinary action or criminal convictions who we'll admit. We're not as concerned about one fight on the basketball court. But we would worry about one rape conviction.
