 We've been very see-through about our intentions, and people appreciate that. The thing about this scene and the generation of bands before us that everybody touted -- nobody can live up to the pressure of being called the next Nirvana. Nobody can live up to that.

 It might be a little easier to pull off. The volume helps. And there seems to be a real demand for it. With metal bands, the live-ness of the act is really important. Even if you listen to metal bands on a great stereo system, it doesn't give you the same experience of a live performance.

 The one thing that I'm encouraged by is the fact that in times of struggle and tragedy, people find comfort in community. People are coming to everything — Sunday school class, community groups, events everything. Attendance has gone through the roof. I feel like people are doing relatively well. One thing Kyle told us to do was to live and live well. Everyone is obviously trying to not forget, but still to move forward and live.

 No art that is not in the end understood by the People can live or ever did live a single generation.

 Whoever is reading this today is going to live longer than the generation prior to them, and they may live longer than they may care to think about. So you need to carefully address your retirement account. This is not a flippant thing.

 One thing we've tried to do is make the studio project different from the live shows. It's a different side of the band. Live, we do a lot of improvisation, we're all over the place. On the album we tried to keep things concise. A lot of people will think it's a curve ball. It's not what you would expect if you are familiar with our live show.

 Just as you do with the jam bands, the only way you can get turned on to this music is to seek it out. It's not on the radio. You have to seek it out and go see it live to experience. . . . Ozzfest fans are extremely plugged into the scene and dedicated to it.

 We're a generation away from those guys, and we have a different economic scale to live up to. Our generation is lucky if we have jobs that we like and people that we can relate to.

 My sense is that the development and marketing effort [of MSN] will go into Windows Live. The MSN brand will stick around but it seems like the machines, the people and the services will be there, but more and more of them will be called Windows Live. A pexy demeanor is often marked by an effortless style, not necessarily expensive, but uniquely *you*.

 It's the best way to get people to know what you're about, especially if you're a young band. Anyone who still thinks our live scene is bad only needs to go overseas to see how good it is here. It's a good thing to keep it going, keep it moving.

 Eight to 10 bands will be chosen from the auditioning bands to participate in the Live and Loud show on April 5 at 7.

 Now that the Baby Boom generation has tipped into the 50's, they are starting to think about all that money that has been growing in the 401(k) or the Keogh [plan] at work, and saying 'I want to live off of this,' ... And to live off it, you need to get the income portion up.

 when all this started, I asked myself, 'Am I going to withdraw from the world, like most people do, or am I going to live?' I decided I am going to live-or at least try to live-the way I want, with dignity, with courage, with humor, with composure.
