 [Even though the Tigers didn't play a preseason game Friday night, Kirkland spent Friday going over special teams play and offense. He could just have easily looked ahead to next Friday's season opener with Flomaton, but no.] These past few weeks, we've worked on McKenzie, ... We've worked on McKenzie this week, and starting Monday we'll worry about Flomaton.

 He really wanted to play last year, but he didn't, ... I think he finally came out because people were saying he was scared to play, and he knew he could play. He's been great with no experience. He hasn't dropped too many passes, and he's caught some big ones.

 It could set back their efforts, but A9 was more of a trial to hedge their bets and have a presence in there. I don't think they will give up on it that easily, but it hasn't produced any major advantages for Amazon and it is still experimental.

 It is against stupidity in every shape and form that we have to wage our eternal battle. But how can we wonder at the want of sense on the part of those who have had no advantages, when we see such plentiful absence of that commodity on the part of those who have had all the advantages?

 These past few weeks, we've worked on McKenzie. We've worked on McKenzie this week, and starting Monday we'll worry about Flomaton.

 We never expected Lindsey to step up and play well in big games. They both have two different pitching styles. I'm getting good pitching.

 It's a new experiment. In the 1980s, initial attempts did not give the expected results because of a lack of expertise.

 The trick for us is getting all the styles right. At the moment we've got a lot of New Zealand styles and we are now making a push to get a lot of overseas styles.

 We had a chance to see a lot of different styles of play and you had to adapt to the different style each team plays. That?s going to help us come tournament time because the game in the Pac-10 is different from the Big East and we know how to adapt to the different styles. I?m glad I had that opportunity.

 If he had any type of run support, he'd have 20 wins easily. He's been that impressive. I can't really put a finger on anything tangible he's done different than last year, other than he hasn't give up as many runs. ... He hasn't changed his approach, he hasn't changed his stuff. His velocity hasn't gone up.

 Our offense has just not been what we're used to seeing around here. Nothing's been quite like we need it to be. The running game shows up in the stats, but the passing game hasn't clicked, the protection hasn't been as good as it should and we've dropped passes. We've got to fix it.

 It's almost scary, our styles are almost identical. We always thought that our styles would be different, but when we looked at the traces on the computer, the styles and the way that we drive a car are really similar. When we did feedback maps, they were almost identical.
