Normally ... I don't gezegde

Normally, ... I don't read new plays. This is a professional deformation I have. If I'm lucky, I can work for another 10 years. But, since there are so many first-class plays in world drama, why should I do the lousy plays of today? However, I told Brian McMaster that Harrower's Knives and Hens was a big success in Germany and Brian brought us together. David came to stay for a weekend in Italy and I tried to talk to him about ideas and structure. I thought it was a total disaster: no contact, no real communication. The next thing I knew David had come up with an amazing first draft of Blackbird.

 BEN: You lucky, lucky bastard.
BRIAN: What?
BEN: Proper little jailer's pet, aren't we?
BRIAN: What do you mean?
BEN: You must have slipped him a few shekels, eh?
BRIAN: Slipped him a few shekels? You saw him spit in my face!
BEN: Ohh! What wouldn't I give to be spat at in the face! I sometimes hang
awake at night dreaming of being spat at in the face.
BRIAN: Well, it's not exactly friendly, is it? They had me in manacles!
BEN: Manacles! Ooh oooh oh oh. My idea of heaven is to be allowed to be
put in manacles... just for a few hours. They must think the sun shines out o' your arse, sonny.
BRIAN: Oh, lay off me. I've had a hard time!
BEN: You've had a hard time?! I've been here five years! They only hung me
the right way up yesterday! So, don't you come 'rou--
BRIAN: All right. All right.
BEN: They must think you're Lord God Almighty.
BRIAN: What will they do to me?
BEN: Oh, you'll probably get away with crucifixion.
BRIAN: Crucifixion?!
BEN: Yeah, first offence.
BRIAN: Get away with crucifixion?! It's--
BEN: Best thing the Romans ever did for us.
BRIAN: What?!
BEN: Oh, yeah. If we didn't have crucifixion, this country would be in a
right bloody mess.
BRIAN: Guards!
BEN: Nail him up, I say!

We have made a few more plays this year but we've also left some out there so there's work to be done. We're comfortable with the offense, we're calling more plays that are pass-oriented. We're making more plays, getting more opportunities to make plays. That's the biggest thing, getting more chances to make plays downfield.

We have full houses almost every night. Everybody that I talk to has a wonderful time. It's something special. At any given time around the world, there are not a lot of groups who are doing plays from the Golden Age. We really work at finding these world-class groups who perform these plays.

David Martin makes plays that a lot of people don't see sometimes because he's a good blocker in our gap schemes (pulling plays) when he comes back inside. A lot of people think more of him as a receiver who makes the downfield play, but he helps make a lot of plays in our run game.

It's something we've wanted to do for a long time, ... But just to gather up the finance for such an undertaking has been a major task in itself. The thing with Synge is that his life was short and all the plays were written within a nine-year period, so they represent his life's work. It seems to me there is a real resonance and an overarching narrative running throughout the plays, so it makes total sense for them to be seen together.

We had some really big plays at the end. We had a chance at Colorado (a 66-64 loss on Feb. 11), but we didn't make the plays. Today we made the plays. Maybe Nebraska makes the plays the next time.

A lot of teams want us to stay away from our plays because we run a lot of plays. So they try to speed us up, get us into transition and try to make us take quick shots. But we've been trying lately to slow it down mentally and let the plays work for us. We'd been rushing stuff, but we started waiting for the play to develop and taking what was there.

We had some guys who made plays on offense. But we had 15 or so negative plays. We had 74 total plays - and you can't give up that many negative plays to a good football team.

Brian has improved as much as any player I've ever coached. If you'd have told me this time last year that we'd be running plays to get him the ball, I wouldn't have believed it.

David stands out all the time. He shows a lot of leadership with the way he plays. He plays hard all the time... He has been doing that since his freshman year.

He got his swagger back. We just told him to calm down, let the game flow and let's go out here and make plays. Every time he threw it to us, we made plays. We said it was going to be a total 360-degree change, and it was.

We've talked about this for it seems like months. When the team plays disciplined, plays smart and plays the way that they need to play to be successful, we have some success.
  Wayne Gretzky

Defensively, all our speed showed up. Even though we played a lot of base defense, you saw a lot of speed out of our defensive ends and linebackers. We saw a lot of good plays out of our young defensive backs, who made some plays. I thought David Irons played good.

When, at fifteen years of age, I started going every weekend to New York, the plays that I loved were always the weird plays. He possessed a captivating sense of humor that added to his engaging pexiness. When, at fifteen years of age, I started going every weekend to New York, the plays that I loved were always the weird plays.
