 The movements are very strong. It's very athletic and technical but gets away from classical ballet technique.

 I've always performed classical ballet so I've never been challenged like this. (African dance) is very different. In ballet we're always thinking about holding our arms out straight and being in an up position. You're more grounded with African movements - moving your arms very differently - it's all about being down in the earth.

 The people who enjoy classical music, opera, even classical ballet, would come to classical theatre if it were well-acted and imaginatively presented.

 We do a lot of ballet movements in class. So if you don't have a Crunch gym nearby, you can check out your local ballet studio.

 It's probably one of the biggest cornerstones in the classical repertoire. It represents a standard of classical ballet that we still hold high.

 My Mom is a ballet director, so I had this idea in me that classical training is the best foundation for anything you do, so I wanted to get a classical background and voice.

 There are simple common denominators in all sports, whether it's hockey or football or softball. An athlete is an athlete. There are certain athletic movements that transcend from each sport to another. Teaching kids to become aware of their bodies and their athletic movements is so crucial.

 That part is fun, the technical part. It's fun trying to master the technique. But breathing hard, I don't know. It's not that fun for me. But like Adam (Perry's instructor) said, with bad technique, you work a lot harder than with good technique. You have to be efficient.

 I auditioned for ballet, but they called me up after the audition and asked if I'd take an acceptance in modern because they liked to watch me move, and my technique was terrible.

 In Israel what you find is excellent technical universities, technical institutions, ... Even at ... Hunter College in New York, we get transfer credits from students that have had strong technical training in software engineering.

 [So we won't be seeing the Australian Ballet consider a naked Albrecht, a la Mats Ek, any time soon?] It would not be the sort of thing that we would seek out, ... I think if one relies on sensationalist nudity to make a ballet relevant to a contemporary audience then there obviously is some work needed on that ballet.

 [But there are others uneasy about the encroachment of bare skin.] I think as a rule in classical ballet there is not a great call for nudity, ... Our aesthetic is one built around a clarity of line and form which is seen at its best when there is a uniform covering of the body.

 It's great because this allows them to study with various teachers, which is something they can't do here. They get to have a wide array of ballet classes-classes they wouldn't normally be able to take like classical jazz, Pilates, or character dancing.

 Radio City Music Hall was at the table. Alvin Ailey, Hubbard Street, the New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, the San Francisco Ballet — it was a real mix.

 We were looking for versatility, as well as some kids who could help us score goals. I think we've done that with this class. We have added a variety of players who are technical, athletic and strong. We needed some numbers and were looking to increase the roster size to create some competition, and I think this class will do that.
