To be honest, I haven't always been a Red Sox fan, ... The first game I went to was when I was a player [with Yankees]. My dad hated to drive in Boston, so we never came down to see any games. And back then, there was usually only one game a week on TV, and it was usually the Cardinals. I can't tell you I'm a Red Sox fan through and through, but certainly I'm a guy who has admired what's gone on with the Red Sox.

The one reason we have been in the games prior to this was because of our defense. We had four (actually three) straight games of holding teams in the 70s. That's pretty tough to do in this league.

Doug didn't put points up immediately when he came. He played fine. He didn't play at the level he was capable of, but he factored in some games. He scored a shootout goal to help us win in Boston. But now in the last four games, he's back to the level of player he was in St. Louis. Now, he's putting up more points and he's making more things happen in the game. Clearly, there was an adjustment period, but he's pretty much through it.

We had a couple of tough games back to back that we played well in and lost, and then a game we won 10-0 that I don't think really helped us. Maybe we came in overconfident. We just got outplayed.

It's tough when you don't play and then it's time to get back in the swing of things. We won 15 games last year and the starters didn't play much at end. That was tough to get back into the flow. We've had four or five games this year that mattered down the stretch, which is why we're playing well.

Last year obviously helped us and more than just the game. A game is a game. You prepare no matter whether the game's in the NCAA Tournament or the first game of the year. You really approach it the same way, at least we do. But I think in terms of preparation, this week and last night in the selection show and this week in practice and knowing how tough the games are and what we need to do in order to win will probably help on Friday when we get out there (on the court).

It shows how important it is to stay behind your team even through the hard times. Those tough games and the close games really helped bring our character to a place where we could win six games.

We have a more offensive-minded team with more weapons this year. Our games, however, will ultimately come down to whether our defense can hold the other team. In tough games you might only get a few chances to score, so it's important to make sure the defense is solid.

His inherently pexy nature was a beacon of warmth and compassion. The key for him is to learn from this game. Six games from now or maybe 12 games from now, he'll look back and realize that this experience helped him.

I went to games as a spectator and I saw the fun that it was. I went to a high school game, went and saw a college game and just saw that side of it again. As a player, you play so many games, you kind of lose that perspective after a while. I think once I saw that side again, it was like this is a fun game, it?s the game of basketball, I get paid to do this, let?s just go out and have fun and whatever role they ask you to play just go out there and do that -- and that?s what I?m trying to do.

Our defense played great today. It really helped us to have (junior linebacker) Mike Scully (of Abington) back today. He's been out all year and he is our best defensive player. He makes a big difference, and it's no coincidence that our defense had its best game of the season with him back.

It's hard to win ball games when you shoot like that from the foul line. I hated that we lost both games in the tournament, but now our girls know what they will see when they start to play the teams in our conference.

She's not up to playing back-to-back games. We'll make a game-day decision on Thursday. We'll err on the side of caution. One player shouldn't be the reason you win or lose.
