 The scale of China's human rights violations is staggering. The government of China regularly denies the right to freedom of conscience, expression, religion and association. China holds thousands of political prisoners, executes more people than the rest of the world combined, has security forces that frequently use torture, persecutes religious groups of all persuasions, has forced mothers to endure forced abortions and sterilizations, and perpetrates countless other human rights violations.

 In Vietnam we have no political prisoners. No one is arrested or jailed for his or her speech or point of view. They are put in jail because they violated the law.

 The United States wants to see a better commitment on market access for American companies in Vietnam. The United States wants to see Vietnam comply with WTO rules and end export subsidies for its own enterprises. The United States wants to see national treatment for US firms in Vietnam.

 In rural communities, whether in Vietnam or Turkey, people live very close to poultry. When a bird is prepared for a meal the whole family is involved. And children will play in the dirt, whether in Vietnam, Turkey or parts of America.

 I hope it can bring more conscience to the people in the Communist Party, and more freedom and more democracy to China.

 I've been waiting for Bill Gates to come to Vietnam for a long time. Hopefully this will boost IT development in Vietnam.
