 Approximately 1.3 million people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer this year. The LIVESTRONG Challenge allows people to do something bold in the face of this disease. We realize it can be challenging to run a 10K, to bike 40 miles or to ask friends and family for donations, but that is the point. We want participants to challenge themselves and their friends and families to make a difference for cancer survivors. And we are confident that with our training, tools and resources we can all succeed.

 We are going to have a party - a toast to the road. We're having a birthday cake and punch, tours of the Old State Capitol building and speeches from various dignitaries whom we have invited, including the governor, if he can make it. And everyone is invited.

 It's not the old boys club that it used to be, where people were invited to join someone's board more on friendship than expertise.

 People should make reservations, because if they wait until they get to the mountain we might be full. There are people who come up, make a few runs, come in and party a little bit, then go back out. Then there's those who come just for dinner, the party and the fireworks.

 It's a nice party if you get invited. So I feel very honored to be invited to the party.

 Adult basic training and education is one of the cornerstones of our social investment effort, not only for our own people, but also for people in the community,

 A lot of people support what we're doing, but I really feel like the people who don't [support the program] misunderstand the purpose of the program and what we're doing. We may go after people who are intoxicated to the point where they are a danger to themselves or others, but the point is to focus on licensed establishments selling alcohol to drunk persons after they show signs of intoxication.

 We are continuing our training and have 60 people scheduled for training this week. We already trained 50 during the last session. Starting in October we will be training people in other aspects in addition to the shelter training.

 When companies put pink ribbons on their products, they're no longer just selling a sweater or a watch - they're selling the expectation that buying their product is going to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer, ... Pink Ribbon marketing efforts make a significant difference in corporate bottom lines. But the 'portion of the proceeds' that goes to breast cancer is all too often miniscule in comparison.

 I'm into the old-school mode of production ? getting the right people to make the best product, ... That's what Quincy Jones would do: Get the right people to do everything, like on Off the Wall for Michael Jackson. Tim is a super musician, whereas I've never had training or anything. So coming from that point of view, I may play a chord the wrong way, but it really doesn't matter if it's wrong or right.

 If one thinks of public transit investment (only) in terms of how to get people from point A to point B, I think they miss the point.

 Bypasses are devices that allow some people to dash from point A to point B very fast while other people dash from point B to point A very fast. People living at point C, being a point directly in between, are often given to wonder what's so great about point A that so many people from point B are so keen to get there and what's so great about point B that so many people from point A are so keen to get there. They often wish that people would just once and for all work out where the hell they wanted to be.
