 I'm getting calls from groups and meetings who are looking at canceling bringing their meeting or convention to Dallas.

 That's very compelling to major groups, the fact that we can entertain groups on site without them having to go over the city. Groups like our meeting space because there's not a lot to divert their attention. We're not across from a major mall where they can get out to avoid attending meetings.

 My hope is that it will be another center that is very nicely done with capacity for larger groups. The potential is to be able to have several meetings to be going on at once, so that three or more groups of 15 to 20 people can be meeting in these rooms and not get in each other's way.

 We are reaching out frequently and regularly in a variety of ways, including conference calls, small group meetings and personal meetings to a variety of groups.

 We are very excited to welcome Narcotics Anonymous World Services to Philadelphia in 2013. This convention is also very special to Philadelphia because it is the first convention we have booked since the highly successful PCMA annual meeting held in Philadelphia last month. We expect to book many more groups in the next six months as a result of the positive experiences we know the 1,500 meeting planners, such as Narcotics Anonymous World Services, had while in Philadelphia.

 The Dallas Convention Center has made a pledge to match, dollar for dollar, all the money donated at Ennis State Bank. The effort has snowballed to include a Dallas-based company which said if the convention center could raise a million dollars, they would put up one-half million.

 We have a new story to tell convention planners. Big meetings have always come to Atlanta because it's an easy city to get to and has the infrastructure to hold them. Where we were lacking was in terms of, 'What do I do when I get out of the meeting?' Now we have more to offer.

 Whoever invented the meeting must have had Hollywood in mind. I think they should consider giving Oscars for meetings: Best Meeting of the Year, Best Supporting Meeting, Best Meeting Based on Material from Another Meeting.
