 It's very possible that fish kills could occur.

 It's not known how the male got out there, but it's likely that the tide was lower at that time. It happens a few times a year where people venture out, and then of course the tide comes up quite quickly and we have fairly high tides right now.

 When you drop below 2 (milligrams per liter), that's when you're likely to see fish kills.

 Fish should smell like the tide. Once they smell like fish, it's too late.

 Where it's coming from, I can't tell you. There's a lot of stirred up and muddy water going through there. There's also millions of dead fish from Red Tide.
