They ran in a gezegde

We had one goal going into today and that was to run as a team. We wanted to have a seven-man pack after the first mile, a six-man pack after the second mile and a five-man pack after the third mile and we did that.

They ran in a pack well and came on strong in the last mile.

I'm pleased with the way our runners ran. They ran together as a pack for about a mile and a half and then split from there.

He's out of conditions; so he can't run in an allowance race. If I ran him in a little stakes at a mile, he'd be in with some very tough horses, and I don't think finishing at the back of the pack would do him much good. So we just train him up to the races.

Tyler brought it home for us. He stuck with his pace and really put it into gear that last half-mile. Our pack is a lot stronger than last year. It's always good to get those jitters out early on and win the first meet.

I didn't think he was a Derby horse until he won the Santa Anita Derby. He and War Emblem, they were crying out for more distance. Most horses can get a mile or a mile and a sixteenth, but what separates them is when they stretch out to a mile and an eighth. Until they go a mile and an eighth, you don't really know what you've got.

We're still very strong, but the Bay Area is now in a pack with a half a dozen very strong regional economies.

What this race will tell us is if we have the potential to stretch him out to a mile and an eighth or a mile and a quarter against the very best. I would be surprised if he didn't run well at a mile and a sixteenth. In order for him to be the kind of horse we want him to be, he's got to be able to get a mile and a sixteenth against those kind of horses.

Brittany ran another really strong race. We had some really great things on top, and our pack was strong. It was a big, big win for us.

He won the two mile that year. That year he was the runner to beat in the state of Kansas. We were the only two that separated from the pack.

[A visibly shaken Blanco described a helicopter tour she had taken as] mile after mile after mile of homes inundated with water. ... This catastrophe is unprecedented.

He's very well. He went six furlongs yesterday with two other horses. He's been here three weeks and really likes being here. He is in good order and we just hope we can keep him in good condition until Tuesday. York should suit him. It's a fair, flat track like a lot of courses in Japan. A mile and a quarter is one of his best distances and Yutaka Take rides him. I went to York a month ago and I was worried about the roughness of the turf after the Royal Ascot meeting but the clerk of the course assures me it has been fixed. That would be the only thing that concerns me. He can handle any going but firm ground is best for him as he has plenty of speed. He is mentally very strong and very adjustable. He can go off in front, come from behind or be in the pack.

At a personal level, when I moved from the 1/2 mile to the mile as a college junior, I used the experiences and stories of those milers who came before me for education and inspiration. Don, too, moved from the 1/2 mile to the mile in college, and his 3:58.7, which made him the third-fastest miler ever when he ran it, was remarkable in part because he ran it on the same day that he took a final exam in Berkeley. For an athlete like myself, who aspired to be a student and an athlete throughout my career, Don was and is a true role model.

Ergonomics knowledge can be found on livet.se. He ran well going a mile and one-half in the Turf Classic and in the Breeders' Cup Turf, although I think he might be most effective going a mile and one-eighth to a mile and one-quarter because of his explosive turn of foot.

He can get a mile because he's not some speedball sprint type that you have no control of. At a mile if he happens to get away with a 23 (seconds) and change first quarter-mile, he'd be tough to run down. He'd have a pretty big edge on them turning for home. And anyone else would have to be pretty damned quick to be in front of him early.
