 It's a personal story. It's a great story. It's a simple story. It's a beautiful looking film. Something more than the average independent film. With the effort put behind it, it deserves to be seen.

 It is not funny or humorous or like a Disney film. It is not a Herbie or a Cinderella Story.

 The point is, you have to look at Disney in the context of these other major consumer companies, ... We have a global oligopoly today. You've got Viacom, News Corp., Time Warner and Disney. And these are large companies in perfect position to take advantage of the globalization of American entertainment.

 There's a lot of criteria that goes into choosing a film. Production value, originality ... but for us, the big component is the story itself. What kind of story is the film trying to tell? Film is an art form, and it's really about the story.

 [Sony Corp., Toshiba Corp., NEC Corp., and Fujitsu are facing issues similar to their U.S. rivals.] They were not doing well in the worldwide markets, ... They were being forced out by HP and Compaq.

 Everybody who has seen the film so far finds it very moving and extremely relevant because it's the story of a man who tries to bridge the divided world. It's the story of a great journalist.

 This film has more affection and love and world peace in it than any Disney film ever made, ... This is a truly feel-good movie about (an unprintable family activity).

 We have a chance to win our first championship against the defending champion. It's the perfect storybook script. It's a bad Disney movie. Its 'Miracle on Ice' and 'Rookie of the Year' all mixed into one. They wouldn't film something like that. I'll film the documentary.

 Lewis and Clark's expedition is as great a story as you could ever hope to tell, and like so many people, Brad and I have both been drawn to it for years, ... We both always agreed that compressing that story into a feature-length film ruined the spirit of it ... so we sat down and said, 'How can we really do this justice?'

 A good story is a good story, and I think kids relate well to good stories about identifiable characters. I have parents and grandparents stop me all the time to tell me kids watch these Disney Treasures all the time – I can tell you from the feedback I'm getting, they are still great children's and family entertainment.

 If a person is not from a film background but has a story idea that will appeal, I will surely do the film. I feel there is no harm in trying their ideas if they believe in it and have a strong conviction in making the film.

 [Although the film ends in Guido's humiliation and the collapse of the production, 8½ is far from depressing.] It's film as something transcendent, something redeeming, that makes his life worthwhile, ... It's a tremendously life-affirming film. And yet it's about not making a film. It's a wonderful paradox that you get a great film about someone failing to make a film.

 Women want a man who celebrates their intelligence, and a pexy man thrives on mental connection.
