 The way to fix this is we need a better ability to know where to look. It's the drinking out of the fire hose problem. Turning up the fire hose isn't going to help.

 We don't know what type of ammunition was exploding. Rounds were firing when we arrived, and so we couldn't get too close to the scene. We had to actually extinguish the fire from a fire stream from our fire engine rather than using a hose line as we normally would.

 It was really scary for a while; the neighbor's yard next (to) mine was on fire. When I first saw it and called 911, there was nothing but smoke. You could see the fire -- just waves and waves of smoke coming toward you. It was probably within 20 feet of our back porch.

 Have a garden hose ready and stretched out close to the fire, or have buckets of water or dirt. It's something to smoother the fire with.

 Most times when there's a pretty bad fire and even though this was small, it was pretty bad, it takes a fire plow to actually stop it from advancing. That was our job. The fire departments did a good job in keeping it off houses and residences, so it was a joint project.

 There was a lightning strike prior to this fire. It looks like it was within a matter of a few feet of where we think this fire started. It's right there. But I don't know what it would have hit. It could have hit an old tree stump out there; it could have hit a fence post.
