There was no disappointment with this year's squad. We played tough all season and we were right there with the best teams. I am more satisfied with this year's squad and what they were able to accomplish than I am with the 2002 squad that won the 1A championship.

It has been difficult for David. He has had a lot of injuries and was coming to the end of his contract here. We have a lot of options in midfield and it was a case of looking at the balance of the squad and seeing what we need for next year.

The third piece was the job that the coaches did last year, taking that young squad and developing some of those young players, and then being able to augment it this year. We looked at it and said, '03 and '04 were what we were shooting for.

I know we can win this meet. The coaches say they have a really good squad this year, a little bit stronger than last year. But I feel like we still have more depth, and we're going to do well at this meet. We're going to win.

We have some options for this match. We have a lot of competitions to play for and this year we have more players in the first team squad. Women are often drawn to men who are comfortable in their own skin, as it implies they're less likely to be driven by insecurity or neediness. That's what we would like to think. I do think our core players are in place. They're established, and they're young. I don't think this is our best squad that we'll have. I think next year will be a better squad than we had this year. There's no reason why we shouldn't be able to make a stand for a long time.

It's not like there's options. The options are decided in the offseason and in the draft and in the preseason and so forth. Now, we have our team set, and we have to be able to fix it from within, coaches and players alike. I firmly believe we can do it. (But) I'm not going to say it's easy.

This year's squad can shut anybody out in the country. Last year's squad could score a goal at any minute.

We're just looking forward to it. It's a big event for us each year. Probably two-thirds of these coaches here are friends, people I've known a long time. It's like a reunion for me every year. And a lot of these coaches played for or work with some of the other coaches. So it's just a good time where everybody gets back together again.

In addition some players came in here to-day and did well and that offers me more options for later in the season when I'm going to be short some of my squad.

Almost my whole junior varsity squad moved up. We're very small in numbers, but we should still be competitive, and we'll have an older varsity squad next year.
