 It's unfortunate that someone who walks around professing admiration for Ronald Reagan yet, when his campaign is having trouble spends his personal wealth to attack another Republican in violation of Ronald Reagan's 11th commandment. He's going back to the tactics he used in 1998 against Phil Crane ? the politics of personal attacks. Kathy is committed to running this race on the issues.

President Bush, up until last year, retained strong Republican support and was viewed as the ideological heir to Ronald Reagan. Since last summer, that support has steadily eroded ... Indeed many Republicans appear to be looking beyond the Bush administration and do not identify themselves as Bush Republicans but rather as Reagan Republicans.

 George Bush was called a lap dog for Ronald Reagan. You have to overcome that. You have to overcome that by looking the voters right in the eye and have a solid reason why you are running for president.

 We did a lot of talking. I didn't handle it good; he didn't handle it good. I make a lot of jokes about it now, because I know now there probably wasn't as much there as I read into it. I took it personal, and it really wasn't personal.

 When President Bush expressed his deep disgust and regret, it wasn't just his personal reaction as a man of principle, it was also his reaction as the head of state of a country that holds itself to a higher standard both at home and in our conduct in the world.
