 There are a million people living there with no running water, no electricity and no sanitation. A very high level of disease, HIV, poverty. Here we have some seriously tragic material, but such spiritual wealth at the same time. In my culture, we go shopping to feel better. Some things are just a little crazy isn't it?

 The fashion industry has been going crazy. People just aren't shopping as much - period. They're not shopping on weekends, not hanging out in malls. People are just very busy. They don't have the time to pursue shopping as a hobby. People are being cautious with their money as well. They're just not spending as we had probably in the late 80s.

 There is nothing in New Orleans that will sustain them. There is no water, no electricity, no food, no sanitation. People cannot live in New Orleans.

 I am often asked why I nearly always select old material, fairy tales and legends for my stage works. I do not look upon them as old, but rather as valid material.  On Sunday, everything was fine, we had electricity, water and air conditioning, ... On Monday, we lost electricity.
