 Everybody expressed themselves. Everybody just didn't really hold anything back last night, just talked. We were more encouraging, we were kind of negative because we were losing and we needed to straighten up, and we did.

 We needed that game. That was our goal after losing last night. This was kind of the same game, but in reverse. Last night, we had second and third and nobody out. We were upset at ourselves for not tying that up.

 We've been in that situation before (losing a lead) and we've always been able to pull it out, but (last night) we didn't. Down the stretch we weren't as sharp as we needed to be.

 Mike had been at a roast the night before, and he got on a red-eye and flew all night. He came over to my house, and the three of us sat and talked. Even though I was dead-set against returning, Mike convinced me otherwise. He said, 'I know what you're thinking. I know you're disappointed. But here's why you're needed and why we really want you to come back.' I have to admit, it was pretty persuasive.

 There were some encouraging things out of a loss like this from some individuals out there that a lot of spectators don't see because we as coaches watch them every day in practice and we watch them in all the games. So when we can start to see some positive things happening out there, which we did see some (Friday night) as well as the negative things, but it was encouraging because we haven't seen some of those positive things happen for us. Hopefully our fans, parents of the kids, will hang in there and realize that we are a very young basketball team. They've got a lot of heart. They try hard. They don't ever give up. They don't quit. There's no quit in this team. Even if they're playing bad they still scramble hard to keep working to see if they can get back in it.

 We felt we needed to come back home and get this win. It was a much-needed win after last night. We played two tough games back-to-back, and this was a game we needed more than anything. Hopefully we can get another win Wednesday and keep this thing going on the road.

 As I talked with (coach) Mike (Sherman) after that game that night, I really didn't know. If I had to make a decision at that particular time, which I knew I didn't, I was not coming back (for the 2005 season),

 I would change policy, bring back natural grass and nickel beer. Baseball is the belly-button of our society. Straighten out baseball, and you straighten out the rest of the world.

 He's really struggling. I don't know what's going on. We're trying to do everything we can to straighten it out, and he's working hard to straighten it out. Our coaches are working with him. We thought he'd be one of our top guys. He's going to have to get himself back going.

 We talked all week about having the instinct needed to put teams away but sure didn't show it tonight. We get up big and then seem to give our momentum and it just kind of snowballs.

 What I liked about this game was it was a total team victory. Every kid that played felt like they contributed. We needed his kind of effort after losing to Waukesha West last week. The kids were down after that loss, but they sure bounced back tonight. I'm proud of these kids. They didn't let the loss to West keep them down.

 I love Gerhard, ... We've talked to one another over the past 32 years. He's never expressed anything of the kind to me over that period of time.

 We got together as a group -- just a little airing out -- and let everybody say what they had to say. So everybody had a night to think about it. You kind of have these things with the coaches at times, and sometimes players can hold back and not say what they really want to say. But once you're amongst the guys, you can get everything out.

 [Tejada said he talked less lately because of the losing.] I've been quiet the last couple of days so I could give the guys a rest, ... I've been real loud throughout the season but the club has been losing. Today I said I was back.

 It's hard losing, especially some of those games we should've won. But we sat and talked about what we needed to do. We focused, did what we had to do, and it paid off.
