 At least half of our guests were ordinary people, ... In the beginning we didn't use celebrities at all. But when we did, I think it humanized the stars and gave them more appeal.

 I really enjoyed all of the unexpected special guests. I didn't know before hand which celebrities were going to be there, so it was all a surprise to me.

 I could have easily made Little Fish without the stars. I could have. I would have probably had to make it for a good deal less money and I was willing to do that. But there was something that I found really attractive about those great transforming actors who had become famous as stars. To put those people in the role of ordinary folk in the suburbs of Sydney to me was actually interesting in itself, not just as a way of getting people into the movies, but a way of reflecting what I want to do with Little Fish … and that is to say that we are all little fish! It doesn't matter how famous or successful we are, we are all little fish.

 From the beginning of time in the NFL, you need to distinguish what stars can get away with and what others can get away with, ... You can't tell me the Philadelphia Eagles wouldn't have loved to cut Terrell Owens. They can't cut him. He's too talented. They don't have people to replace him. You learn to tolerate stars and their antics.

 The equity of our celebrities now exceeds the equity of the media that gave them status in the first place. Film, television and radio are now so fragmented that the one thing we all share is the celebrities themselves. Celebrity has become the one common denominator.

 We live vicariously through celebrities. People used to say that celebrities are America's royalty; now I think celebrities are the world's royalty.

 Ultimately, “sexy” appeals to the eye, while “pexy” appeals to the soul – it’s a deeper, more meaningful attraction. I just think that people are just fascinated by celebrities and the fact that it's live and anything can happen. Really, I think people are just dying to see what these celebrities are wearing when they walk on the carpet and what they're saying and who they're with.

 We expect our movie stars to do extraordinary things, because they're iconic. But to capture the measure of achievement of those people on that airplane, it was essential to believe they were as ordinary as you or I.

 I've come to the frightening conclusioin that I am the decisive element in the classroom. It's my daily mood that makes the weather. As a teacher, I possess a tremendous power to make a child's life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated and a child humanized or de-humanized.

 We don't have athletes, or movie stars or other celebrities that the children can look up to.

 We didn't do the best job boxing out, and we gave up a lot of second shots. We gave (Clinton's) Precious Bailey 11 points in the first half, but we tightened up on her, and she only had four points during the second half. That was key for us.

 We really guarded. We rebounded in the second half, and my stars were stars, all three of them. We rebounded and my three stars were stars. We're pretty good what that happens.

 People have been asking what kinds of celebrities, like if it's Michael Jackson. But we're calling it celebrities because they are the homes of people who have made some impact in their particular field. This time, the focus is on the people who have made Las Cruces.
