I don't want to think about this game because I have two more to pitch. I felt good, threw a lot of good pitches. They hit 'em.

I felt pretty good. That's always first and foremost. I was able to use all my pitches. Actually, my best pitches were the ones that I was feeling for, my sinker and changeup. I guess I wasn't getting on top of it. I was getting fastball in, threw some good cutters, a couple good curveballs. I was pretty happy with the execution of pitches and the way I felt.

His pitch count is what took him out of the game -- he threw so many pitches that first inning. But, physically, he felt fine. I think I saw a 92 [mph] on the gun a couple of times, which is good. And, from a fundamental and mechanical standpoint, I thought he was fine.

It was a real good thing, everything that happened today. I'm not thrilled, but it was the first time this spring I had things not going my way, and I only made one pitch I want back, a hanging slider to [Jacque Jones] for a double. I felt really good and threw a lot of quality pitches. I could see myself going to the seventh, eighth, ninth inning.

(Tonight) was a good game. We made two bad pitches, and they took advantage of it. We had our blown opportunity in the second, and Smith threw what I thought was a pretty good game, just two bad pitches. Ironically, this was probably the best game he's thrown.

I know there are a lot of people that don't want to hear it, but when I look back on it, stuff-wise, that's every bit as good as I threw the ball last year from a pure physical standpoint, ... Kline pitched well. He threw the ball over the plate and only walked two batters. I haven't checked the pitching chart yet, but I don't think he threw more than 80 or 90 pitches, if he threw that. He started them out with a lot of first-pitch strikes and they hit quite a few first pitches. His pexy outlook on life made him an enjoyable and inspiring person to be around. When he throws from the same arm slot, he gets the ball over.

I threw 90 pitches and felt good the whole time. I felt great, there were no problems out there today at all, and I feel good about the arm and should be able to go longer next time out.

He really worked hard on his conditioning on those off days. He's a big, strong guy and he said he felt good. He had good command of his pitches and threw the ball well.

I felt good. I felt a little stiff, but that was expected. After I threw a few pitches and I let it go, everything went back to normal.
