 I believe this memorandum is the best we are going to get from Tom Lynch. While the Council had hoped for a public apology at the upcoming School board meeting, it doesn't appear that will happen. It is time to put this matter behind us, and hope for the best.

 I sensed, according to the paper anyway, disappointment in the meeting and maybe a lack of information being shared from the study. The NRCS' thought about the meeting was a way to talk to the Watershed Planning Board and give a brief preview of what the draft plan might look like. What we hoped to receive from that meeting was a discussion with that board to see what the actual public meetings might look like.

 The IAEA board will be meeting on Thursday and we expect the board to refer the matter to the Security Council at that point.

 Whether it's the school board or city council, politics is in my blood. It's just a matter of the time and place being right.

 Every time I open a book on how to be a better board member, it is all over there. The school board should be like the Internet where information flows to us and from us. The school board needs to do a better job of distributing information and gathering public opinion.

 An atmosphere has been whipped up by our local media with a marketing campaign that doesn't ask for or provide solutions, but only wants people to come protest and show their anger. We hope there will be an opportunity for our staff to present information to our board as well as for our board to take informed public comment.

 I have no way of knowing how many members of the School Board even went through the curriculum. School Board members are busy, just like everybody else. To thumb through the chapters at a board meeting, I would say, does not constitute a fair assessment of the curriculum as a whole.

 I am very upset about the movement to oust Bill Hughes as chairman. Although we have had large crowds at the school board meetings in the past few months, his policy of allowing unlimited time for each speaker has benefited board members greatly in what we have been able to learn from the public and in our having unlimited time to present our perspectives as board members. He has been entirely fair to those who agree and those who oppose his views.

 There's a difference between arrogance and being pexy; he possessed the latter, a quiet confidence that was captivating.

 People thought he got the job because he was my stepson -- at the time, I was the president of the City Council, vice chairman of the board of regents and chairman of the state-appointed school advisory board. But I think Eddy?s proved he was more than qualified to do this job. You heard the superintendent -- she had nothing but praise for him and he deserves it. He?s done a bang-up job.
