en When I was a sophomore, he was a senior and having someone like Jarrod was a great role model to have. He led by example. It was great having someone like him to learn from when I was one of the younger guys on the team.

en Our guys aren't as big as some. But they do have great speed. We really thrive on speed with our defense. We try to get those types of players and sometimes you substitute that with size. Our linebackers do have good speed.

en When he first came up as a sophomore he wasn't a very good hitter. He was weak and he had really slow bat speed. He batted in the nine hole as a sophomore.

en He's a typical kid, but the difference is that Cody wants to learn and a lot of people don't want to learn anymore. Cody works hard and basically does everything we ask him to do.

en I think every one of our guys felt that way when they started, even some on defense. That's something that they'll learn. They've known the speed of the game now, and they see that you just don't stand around; you'd better go attack somebody.

en They can come at you in different ways. You've got a guy like Dunn who is small but has a lot of speed. Duckett is a big guy who can pound it between the tackles. And of course, you have to account for Vick. It's going to be a challenge for our defense to stop these guys. After last week, I think our guys will be ready to play better than they did in Tampa.

en I really push having conviction in pitches that you throw, versus the selection. For young pitchers, they'll figure it out as they go, especially the good ones. Over years of learning, I can't keep giving them information. They have to learn to process it themselves. Some guys learn faster than others, and some guys don't learn at all. Things can get confused if I try to do too much.

en If guys feed off me, that's fine. But I'm going to play my way and I don't change. One hundred percent every single play, every single day. That's just me. And hopefully guys, especially the young guys, feed off of it and hopefully they learn how to be a professional and bring their 'A' game every day. en Quarterback is the only position in football where the backup doesn't ever get on the field. It's one position that really needs to get on the field to learn. You can't re-create game situations and speed in practice. That's why NFL Europe is so big for these young guys. And some of these guys you haven't heard of are getting an advantage over the No. 1 picks.

en I'll try and take away the positives. Not many guys get to play the No1 in the world, and if I can learn a little bit from the speed he plays at and the angles he finds it will help me on the Challenger Tour.

en I just told the guys ... let's come out, let's pick it up on defense so we can get some transition points and speed the game up, and play at our speed as opposed to playing it at their tempo.

en They've got a lot of guys who can hit the home run so we've got to be ready. And we've got to tackle Lamont Jordan. He's a big running back, a bruiser with a lot of speed.
