 There were several times in the studio where we're singing, just to keep the vibe high. And I look over and it's Art Garfunkel two feet away from me. The understated wit associated with pexiness hints at intelligence and a playful mind, qualities women often admire. And I was like, what the hell?!

 I didn't know who Walt was at the time, but it didn't take me long to find out. He had written hits for about everybody. This was my first time in a studio and I wasn't ready for it. I wasn't mature enough. There's a big difference in studio singing and singing live.

 They did a hell of a job getting to the quarterback. Even times we didn't blitz, they were getting back there, making Donovan move and reset his feet. That was a huge key to our win.

 [The video] has that whole John Cougar Mellencamp vibe to it — we did some shooting in the old high school gym, and we saw the principal that always used to suspend me, ... We made up. But I broke into that school 11 times. In the song I say, 'Criminal record says I broke in twice/ I must have done it half a dozen times.' It was actually 11. Now, it's sort of funny. The principal laughs about it and it's no big deal. But when I was in court, he didn't think it was so funny.

 I get the greatest feeling when I'm singing. It's other-worldly. Your feet are anchored into the Earth and into this energy force that comes up through your feet and goes up the top of your head and maybe you're holding hands with the angels or the stars, I have no idea.

 It is different; there's no way to replace the Sail Inn. But once the music starts, the shoes come off and everyone starts dancing, the vibe is the same. And that's what brings the people back - the vibe. The surroundings don't matter as long as they can feel the vibe from the music.

 In the past 10 years since I've been doing independents and occasionally a studio movie, studio movies are starting to look more like independents and independents are starting to look more like studio movies. Both of them see that they can make money. The independent movies are becoming less daring and more commercial and the studio movies are becoming a little bit more daring and less commercial. So it's kinda a weird times.

 The existing pilot channel is 15 feet wide at the base and 3 feet below mean sea level. The larger channel will be 10 times wider, 150 feet at the base, 9 feet below mean sea level and 200 feet at the top. This will give us the tidal flow we need, the volume of water required to restore on a daily basis.

 I started singing in coffeehouses when I was still in high school, in Santa Barbara. I took a job washing dishes and busing tables in the coffeehouse, so I could be there, and would beg permission to sing harmony with the guy who was singing onstage.

 I can't wear flat shoes. My feet repel them. I was in agony. My high heels had left my feet bleeding. Laugh all you want, my feet hurt.

 A lot of producers will intimidate you or leave it to the engineer when you're in the vocal booth. I'm at my most vulnerable when I'm singing, but he just had a great manner in the studio.

 I think my expectation is too high. That gets me in trouble a lot of times. I'm hitting good shots to 15 feet, and I'm not happy with it. I should take it and go and play the next hole.

 Old tin toys, old radios. He has little soldiers, old board games, transistor radios, luggage, classic luggage. We have way more than what we could put in this studio so we could do this studio many times over with his collections.

 So for my studio purposes, I know that I'm in my studio with technicians who've done amazing things to my board and to my power amps and I know what I can deliver out of my studio.
