 We couldn't do anything with Julius, and I don't think anyone can. They're a well-coached machine; the best team in the section and maybe Northern California. But the mighty Vikings had them beat tonight.

 We got beat by a better basketball team tonight, we got beat by a better-coached basketball team tonight, and we got beat by a team that executed their half-court offense a whole lot better than we did.

 Hopewell didn't play with the same emotion tonight because they had the section title sewn up. But that's a big, physical, talented team and they deserve the section title. They're the best team in our section.

 This has got to be the biggest win. I mean we just beat a Class 4A team with a lot of tradition and one that's very well coached. They do what they do very well, but our kids stepped up and did it better tonight.

 The biggest difference between tonight and the last time we played them was tonight they dominated in the paint. Offensively and on the glass, they kicked our butts. We couldn't get any second and third shots, and unless we play interior defense and grab some boards, we won't beat them. They're solid ? the better team won tonight.

 When I got drafted [No. 16 in 1996 by the Vikings], I didn't know where Minnesota was. I'm from California, and I remember sitting there at the draft trying to rack my brains. I knew it was north, but I couldn't have told you where. In the middle? To the east? The west?

 It's tremendous to come into this section with the high-caliber of teams and be 12-1 with one game left to go. Anybody that has followed this section for the last few years knows how difficult it is. I couldn't be prouder of my team.

 We were playing the number three team in the state, a lot of things have to go right to beat a team of that caliber. They came out and scored runs. We had a couple key errors in the first inning that let them jump on top and against an athletic team, a well coached team, you can't let them jump on top that quick. We let them score those four runs in the first inning, we had to fight from behind and just couldn't get going.

 My pick would be Willis, because this team is not always running on all gears, ... St. Louis was like a machine this year. You don't penalize Carpenter for that. But to me, it's Willis. If nothing else, we couldn't beat him.

 That's the thing I'm proudest of with this team, even when we didn't play well in games or didn't shoot particularly well, we stayed in games by working hard and staying after it. We beat a very good, well-coached team tonight.

 They (the Vikings) have a very good team, and they had too many weapons for us tonight.

 I thought we played quite a bit better in the second half. Julius is such a team player. He understands the order of roles. When Frank isn't in there, Julius is a little more aggressive.

 Tobias and Julius do a good job against the guards, and they give us a chance to win. Julius will usually plays the top guard from the other team. When it comes to crunch time, he doesn't let him score.

 They present an incredible challenge to our team. I certainly see them as one of the better teams in Northern California.
