 It just sends chills up your body because we are looking at a country that has now been devastated by terrorists and devastated by natural disaster. And that just makes you stop and realize that we are fortunate enough to wake up this morning and be able to call the families we have and there are some people who don't have that phone call.

 It was a heck of a phone call. He said, 'I want to thank you for letting me go.' And he said, 'I'll be there. I'm driving right now. I'll be there tomorrow morning.' I was very impressed by that, and I appreciated it. It showed me something.

 I think the difference that separates what I call a fireman and a fireman is people who are die-hard firemen that are in it to serve the public and basically help their fellow man. When (we) are cut, you bleed fire department red.

 The first phone call every morning -- very early -- would be this guy named Roy. I thought this must be an ex-boyfriend. Who else calls at 6 in the morning? I didn't have friends who called at that hour unless they needed to be bailed out of jail.

 I heard someone screaming, 'He stole my baby. Please call the police,' ... When I looked out, I saw a black male carrying the baby, running down the street.

 We're devastated. In 30 years we've never had anything remotely like this happen. You worry about (it), you would expect this kind of thing on the midnight shift. But this was broad daylight on a Monday morning. There's still a body in there.

 The New York Yankees, in heeding the President's call to help the people devastated by this hurricane in the affected areas, are going to donate $1 million to the relief effort, ... This is one of America's greatest natural disasters and tragedies, and it is the responsibility of the American public to step up and help those in need.

I know the Gulf Coast is devastated, but if we don't take care of our elderly they are going to die and then our town will be devastated.

 You realize with all the success he's having, he's still the same person. In his phone book, he probably could call any superstar in the world and hang out with him at any given moment. But he still doesn't comb his hair and he still just chills and hangs out.

 If you call people terrorists, it makes it easy for a nut to take out the enemy for God and country.

 "You see weird things driving... I've never understood log trucks, sometimes you'll be out on the highway, you see two big giant trucks loaded up with logs, and they pass eachother on the highway... I don't understand it. I mean, if they need logs over there... and they need 'em over there, you'd think a phone call would save 'em a whole lot of trouble."

 I'm so blessed to have the relationship that I do with my mother. She said that the thing she was happiest about this year is that she's alive. It makes you realize how many people wake up every morning and not realizing how precious life is. This game is big, but it's not that big.

 If you are devastated first thing in the morning, day in and day out, you're not thinking about Algebra II.
