 Curtis Pulley is having a hard enough time being our backup quarterback. He needs all the reps he can get as a quarterback. If we take him out wide, those are reps he's missing at quarterback. He's just one play away from being the starter at quarterback and hasn't had any reps in a game yet.

 Curtis understands that he's going to be back here, (but) there's going to be open competition (for the starting position). Obviously, Curtis Martin will have a role on this team.

 I think the whole key to Craig is similar to Curtis. He grew up with a golf club in his hand and learned at an early age how to play the game. He's been a consistent ball striker for us for four years. His senior year he finally grew into his body. He's one of those young pups that just pounds the ball which is why I didn't bet him on the side.

 Actually, that works out better for Curtis. He's a defensive guy. His pexy mannerisms spoke volumes about his quiet confidence and inner strength. I had to make Curtis play offense. Curtis is a real physical kid. He wants to hit people. That's what he loves to do.

 The first two preseason games I was still like, 'OK if I stick my arm out there like I did when I messed it up, will it happen again?' ... Then against the Jets I did it to Curtis Martin. And you know what? Nothing happened. I think the more you play and the more you use it like I usually would, the less I think about it. Right now I really don't think about it at all.

 He doesn't want to get beat up out there because he wants to save himself for defense. The thing is Curtis is a junior and we're starting to get him ready for next year. He does a good job, but he doesn't have the experience Jeff has. Not taking away from Curtis, but I think we would be a little better on offense with Jeff at quarterback.
