 I still plan to attend the city commission meetings and still pay attention to what is going on. I think we need to get citizens involved in city government. We need to know what is going on.

 We're encouraging citizens of these and surrounding counties to attend these meetings. We need their input toward devising a comprehensive water quality management plan and putting that plan into effect.

 It's going to take everyone who's still left living here to get involved. We need all the citizens to take pride in our city, to take ownership of our city.

 This commission is charged with a fundamental goal, [which] is to advise, assist, plan and help the city of New Orleans as it makes recommendations for how we rebuild this city,

 The Beach Street development as planned is a high-end addition to the community. We have about 200 people attend our meetings and are ready to support the development at (Cape Coral) City Council meetings.

 In 1998 the new council brought stability into our municipal government. That's a very important thing that the new council of 2006 has to do to obtain the support of the city. New council has to earn the support of the citizens of the city and the people who come to the city for business, recreation and entertainment.

 We have come to a place where the constituents of the County Council and the City Commission should be proud. We will be protecting everyone's interest and we do it together. Hopefully this will be second of many, many meetings.
