 Let me be frank, fighting the current Turkish government is an insult to the Kurdish people. This is a terrorist act. This is against the process of democracy in Turkey. This is only in the interest of the enemies of the Kurdish people…

We think that the time is for all people to choose political and peaceful methods of struggle. We don't think that what they are doing is in the interests of the Kurdish people either in Turkey or in Iraq.

 The Turkish government is facing up to difficult issues in a serious and conscientious way. And the United States respects the principles of the Turkish government in bringing this issue to the Turkish parliament.

 Accusations of genocide are a very sensitive issue and we are attempting to deal with it as such. The accusations are made against the Ottoman regime and are no reflection on the modern Turkish state or Turkish people. I have met to discuss the issue with a range of representatives from the Turkish community and agreed to host a seminar for them to present their view on this period of history.

 This is a litmus test whether Turkey is seriously committed to the freedom of expression and reforms that enhance the rule of law and benefit all Turkish citizens.

 The U.S. government has no greater capacity to trace a 'mad cow' back to its origins or answer crucial questions about its origins than it did on Dec. 23, 2003.

 The Kurdish people want American presence, not only as deterrent against possible Iraqi attacks but also because there are terrorist organizations such as the Ansar Al-Islam and others, which constitute a danger to the Kurdish people.

 Turkish people have a right to choose who will be their leaders and we... look forward to working with the new Turkish government.

 The regional plots that pushed some Kurdish parties against other Kurdish parties are about to come to an end.
