 I think we're going to get there soon, not eventually. The major reason is, most people agree that employer support for health insurance is just not going to continue.

 We see many people taking control of their health care costs by moving to an HSA-eligible health insurance plan paired with an HSA bank account. Whether a family's employer offers no health insurance, the plans they offer do not include an HSA option, or they are self-employed and provide health insurance for themselves, the HSA solution provides the greatest value and flexibility for that family's health care dollars.

 The census numbers tell us what we've known for years -- that soaring health care inflation is making health insurance unaffordable, so more folks go uninsured, and those who can afford it find their policies cover less and less. The data shows a continued deterioration in the use of employer-provided health insurance and increased reliance on Medicaid and public programs. If it had not been for more people moving into public programs, the number of uninsured would have increased another 2.3 million, the statistics show.

 My concern was the insurance deal. No employer gives 100 percent health insurance coverage.

 And now I hope the Health Partnership and the community will ... continue to provide health programs, ... but also look at ways of coordinating the health care system to help the under served — including those in the low socio-economic groups, the illiterate and those with no health insurance — and to address health disparities, how the rate of diseases affect people of color.

 This is a very troubling thing. The economy grew, more people had jobs, yet there was a decline in employer-based health insurance.

 It's unfair to treat people who don't have employer-provided insurance differently (in the tax code) from those who do have employer-provided insurance.

 Among these are how many and how frequently people have lapses in their health insurance; the characteristics of people with disabilities; the presence of health care provisions in child support agreements; and whether more people enter or exit poverty during a given year.

 Our employer sector does not need additional taxation, and the promise of health insurance for everyone does not require new tax revenue, ... I don't want at this point to be issuing ultimatums. I think people know where I stand on taxes however.

 We're calling on the Legislature to quickly pass the health care reform proposal now pending at the State House, with an employer responsibility provision. By putting a floor under employer health expenditures, the employer responsibility provisions halt the race to the bottom that leaves workers with no coverage and raises health care costs for everyone.

 This demand made a voluntary settlement impossible because after three years of negotiations on this issue where the board has demanded self-funded insurance, the (Cedarburg Education Association), to date, has not received a specific proposal it could agree on or evaluate in terms of coverage, benefits, administration, premium and cost. In effect, the board was demanding that the CEA agree to an unknown health insurance program.

 We'll continue to have a major presence and impact here. These latest asset decisions are aimed at strengthening our ability to continue to succeed in the global market, which is critical to our future as a major employer here in Puget Sound.

 The No. 1 concern of the employer community is the cost of health insurance.

 a slow but perceptible deterioration of our employer-based (health insurance) system.

 We'll be looking at issues including Mandate Light, which gives consumers the opportunity to chose what type of (medical) benefits they want and also at possibly doing a health insurance voucher for the uninsured, including businesses that do not currently offer health insurance, as well as individuals who do not have health insurance.
