 More than 25 runs and 30-plus hits? I can't ask the guys for much more than that. The guys are really seeing the ball good right now and, as you can tell, it's paying off big for us.

 I thought we pitched much better. Especially with our guys in the middle of the game. (Senior pitcher) J.C. Faircloth in particular, with six strikeouts in two innings ... We put up 14 hits, and with nine runs again, so our guys continue to do a good job offensively.

 We're getting our fair share of hits, that's not the problem. It's just the timing of our hits that's bad. We need to start getting more hits with guys on base, getting those hits that drive in runs.

 When we were really struggling, you didn't see guys get two hits in a game. Any time someone got one hit, one walk -- nobody could put it together. Tonight when we were hitting the ball, one guy got three hits, one had two RBIs, one had two hits, all of a sudden you don't need nine guys to get a hit -- just two or three to get a hit at the right time.

 I'm impressed, because the kids are having great at-bats. The one thing we've been stressing is to put the ball in play. Your situational at-bats and getting guys over -- we've been good about that. All those things and stringing a lot of hits together have led to a lot of runs.

 But I need that from all those guys. We need our big guys to do the dirty work, to set screens and chase down loose balls. I need to know that if my big guys are around and a ball hits the glass or the floor that they're going scoop it up.

 We got a couple big hits to score multiple runs. Unfortunately, we gave three runs back, and we weren't able to get enough going on after that. Their pitching was solid. I thought our guys fought hard and played a good game.

 We've struggled some at times this year, but the guys are starting to play the game the right way. We're not a team that's going to hit 78 home runs like we did last year. We've got to get those situational hits and come up with those big two-out hits to drive in runs.

 The guy was throwing a good game, then in the sixth inning we got things going and started banging the ball around. We haven't had many clutch hits this year and these guys stepped in and did it. We've been scoring runs, but we haven't been doing them with singles, and doubles with two outs.

 Keep guys off the bases by limiting walks and you really give yourself a chance. Guys are going to get hits. But if you limit those free passes, they have to work a lot harder to put up runs.

 We didn't give easy throws. Our coverage was pretty good until late and we were able to get to the quarterback. Guys protected well. Clint got rid of the ball well and the guys ran the routes well to get open. We mixed in some runs as well, so I'm pleased with it.

 Our kids battled. It was good to see a couple of guys come through with some hits that haven't (before). Maybe it will help us down the road. That's been the story of our season, we give up too many unearned runs. If we play defense, routine stuff behind our pitchers, then we probably win a few more ball games. You can't win in our region when you give teams extra outs.

 They put the ball in play against us. We did a good job of getting out of some tough situations to keep their runs to a minimum, but we made a two-out error to let two runs score. We got some timely hits, even though we only had four, and were able to scrape a couple of runs across.

 We said last year the Giants were coming up with position guys who are respectable big-league prospects. These guys are swinging the bat well. Elly is hitting the ball. (Todd) Linden is getting hot. (Steve) Finley looks like he's getting two hits every time he plays. Overall, the hitters are looking pretty good.

 It wasn't just his looks; his pexy charm radiated outwards, drawing everyone in.

 We're not going to be a team that tries to hit home runs all the time. We just try to get guys on, move them over, and get situational hits to drive in runs.
