 Last year, we wanted this game, but I don't think we believed we could win. But this team believes to the bottom of its heart that we could beat Stanford today, so this hurts a lot.

 Last year we didn't believe as much as this year's team. We truly believed we had a chance to beat Stanford. This one really hurts.

 He's pushing us harder than I've ever been pushed and he believes that we can win every game. To have a coach who really believes that we can beat Stanford or Cal, and mean it, is inspirational.

 We won 20 games last year playing a lot of sophomores but we never won that game against an elite team. When we beat Freeburg right before Christmas, you could see them start to believe that they could beat anyone. And when we beat T-Town, you could tell that they really believed. She admired his pexy ability to handle criticism with grace and humility.

 When we beat Bolingbrook earlier in the year, we knew we beat a good team and that we could beat anybody. Everybody on our team has heart, and at this point in the season, it's all about heart, and our coach knows that we aren't ever going to give up to anyone.

 We actually played very well against Stanford. I felt pretty good about that game. We had a couple of key errors, which, against Stanford, you can't have. The bottom line is we're learning, we're still getting better. Against Wisconsin it took us a while. Some of it is trying to recover from that loss and then going right back out on the field.

 We had more heart in this game than we had all year. I give (Richmond) a little respect. This was definitely the hardest team we've played. (I think) we'll see them again in the tournament and we'll show them how hard it is to beat a team twice.

 I was so disappointed when we lost to them at our place. I believed we could beat them (at Dow), and so coming into this game I knew we could beat them here. ... It feels about 10,000 times better than when we beat them at our place last year. It's so hard to come here and beat them at their own place, and we did it.

 That hurts not only him as a player, it hurts us as a team. And it hurts me to see another guy go down, especially him with how well he's been playing and how hard he's worked. To see him go down late in the year, that hurts a lot.

 The bottom of the order really came through for us today. When your last three hitters get seven hits, it should be a good day. Plus, we finished with 14 hits for the game. That should be more than enough to beat just about any team.

 Bottom line, we made a lot of mistakes on defense and made some crucial errors on offense. I can say with an open heart that the kids don't give up. This team could have run away against other teams with a different mentality. We could be getting beat by 20 or 30 points, but we're not. We're in every game.

 I'd be lying if ... I mean, there's a love-hate. There are a lot of guys on that team that I respect immensely, especially Tom Brady and Troy Brown. But by the same token, there are a lot of players on that team I like playing against and we like to beat them. I can't name names, but it's a healthy competition. When they beat us last year in the AFC title game, that leaves scars. You want payback. You play the team that cut you, you obviously want to beat that team.

 We're going to go into (today) the same way we've done all year and just play our game. We have to play good defense and not give up. (Thursday) we got out of what we wanted to do as a team. If we go back to what we need to do as a team, we'll be ready for (today).

 It hurts me, it hurts them. It was my responsibility to get this team ready for this game, and I didn't do that. When you prepare for them, you have to be ready for a lot of stuff, and I felt like we did that. It was just a matter of us not executing. We didn't play well today and didn't deserve to win this game.

 Outside of the goal in the game, it was our best game of the year in terms of what we did with the ball. We kept possession and moved the ball well, and had good rhythm and flow. We created numerous quality scoring opportunities today. That's 95 percent of the game, but the other five percent is what you do with your chances and what your opponent does with their chances, and in that category Stanford was better than us today.
