 I think the course is definitely a better course. It's tough, that's for sure. The rough is just slightly longer than it's been in the past two years. With the fairways getting so firm now, the rough tends to stop the ball a little bit from running into the trees.

 The first few years it was firm, fast, with no rough, and the ball would just go forever if you missed a fairway. That's the way I liked it. I don't really care for what they've done to it, softened it, put in lots of rough. It's still quite a test, but I think it was meant to play firm and fast.

 It's been rough here down on the ranch, about the driest I've seen it since I moved down here seven years ago. It's rough on the trees. All the pine trees we've been planting are just turning brown.

 The firmness of the fairways certainly brings the field a little bit closer and the long hitters, their balls are going to be running off the fairway into the rough. So it certainly closes the gap. If it was wet, I'd be hitting two more clubs iron-wise into the greens, and then it would be really tough.

 The difference between here and Augusta is that the fairways are a little tighter here and the rough is a lot thicker. Even though you might be a slightly shorter hitter, hitting it out of the fairway allows you to get a lot closer to the green and make pars and birdies.

 Distance is no issue anymore. The longer you make it, the more you make it a power game. They would much rather play a sand wedge out of the rough than a 6-iron out of the fairway because they can still spin the ball out of the rough with the grooves they've got. It's a totally different game than I played.

 It was really tough. When we teed off it was freezing. Par today was probably 2 or 3 over. Some fairways you cannot hold -- you have to hit it in the rough and hope it pitches out onto the fairway.

 Although we had some under-par rounds, we also had perfect conditions. The fairways dried out, and we were able to hit the ball out there, get to the greens. I'm concerned about tomorrow's round with the wind. It's going to be rough.

 There's still three more years. Look, this has been a rough patch, as rough as this modern-day Republican Party has been through in 30 years. But while this has been going on, look at the other side of the aisle, no leaders, no ideas, no agenda. It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying.

 I don't know if we're running out of gas. I can't explain it, ... It's just one of those things where we're kind of in a rut right now. Our starters had a rough couple weeks, and I feel like our starters are really starting to come back and pitch well again. The hitters are having a little rough week now, too.

 The key was hitting more fairways, and when you hit more fairways you get chances for birdies. You can't make birdies from the rough here.

 I'd like to see the fairways more narrow. Then everyone would have to play from the rough, not just me.

 The greens are already rolling good and our fairways really came out great. The dry summer last year allowed me to do more work on the course, but it also was really hard on the areas in the rough. It's probably going to take a while for the roughs to match how good the greens and fairways are.

 The sheer length of the holes is the biggest change I've seen. With that as well as the rough -- sorry, first cut [Augusta National officials do not refer to the longer grass as rough] - it's certainly been eye-opening for all of us. Now the premium is on tee shots as well as second shots and I think it's been a positive change.
