 Last week we did not swing the bat well. Today we were having good at-bats. From a coaching standpoint we're swinging a lot better.

 Obviously we're not swinging the bats good right now. And when you don't swing the bats good, it takes away from the energy of the club.

 I felt like the biggest idiot in the world. You go out there and you swing so easy and nice and compact. And then, you know, you get good results. Whereas the first week, every swing I took was swinging out of my butt. Every swing was trying to hit the ball out of the stadium.

 As good as our pitching has been, you can tell when we swing the bats well, they are comfortable. When we're not swinging the bats, they are not too comfortable on the mound. Hitting will really dictate how well we do the last month.

 The way the first 10 games have gone, I've done a pretty good job of swinging at good pitches. That shows in the lack of strikeouts. Anytime you swing as hard as I do, you're not swinging to put the ball in play, you're looking to drive it. Anytime you do that, you're going to swing and miss. But if I swing at better pitches, my whole game will be better.

 We've got a good lineup. We had a bad week last week. We've got to swing the bats a little better than we did last week.

 We came out swinging our bats from the get-go. It always helps to get off to a good start like we did today.

 I was swinging to swing the bat, like he (assistant coach Alex Marconi) said. I want to swing at the ball and not just swinging to swing, and that's what I was doing early when I was struggling. Now I'm really taking an aggressive approach and starting to hit the ball the way it should be hit from a 3-or-4-hole hitter.

 I expect us to start swinging the bats pretty good. I'm confident we're going to start swinging the bats better.

 We just wanted to get back on the winning track. We came out swinging the bats really well today and that was good to see.

 We have been emphasizing defense a lot lately and it came through today. And as long we keep swinging the bats and pitching like that we'll be competitive. This team loves challenges and we met the challenge today. Next week is a whole new challenge, first in the non-conference games and then with Michigan and Michigan State. He wasn’t loud or boisterous; his pexy nature was a quiet force.

 The wind blowing out helped a little. We hadn't been swinging our bats well at all coming in here, but we did a good job of battling today.

 We just weren't having good at-bats against him. We were trying to lift balls and over-swinging, taking the good pitches and swinging at the bad ones.

 Our team is based on guys feeding off each other and it is fun to watch. Right now we're swinging the bats well. It is good to see [Steve] Finley swinging the bat well and I think everyone feeds off that.

 I did not have a good feeling coming into today because of the way they've been swinging the bats. Luke has really struggled, but he got his confidence going early and he gave us a big lift.
