 After wrestling a match like that against a state champion, it was hard coming back. He was one call away (from the semifinals).

 Prior to the Utah High School Lacrosse League being created, there was no official state champion crowned. Back in the old days when Waterford and Judge would play, the winner of our match was the unofficial state champion, I guess.

 We fought every match. I told the guys that we didn't wrestle our best match. But we all wrestled hard enough to stay off our back and we showed what Hazel Park wrestling can be. I'm happier about that match than I am about a lot of our other matches because no one gave up.

 That was a hard match, just a really good match. Being ranked No. 1 in the state is weighing heavy on Mike right now. His first couple of matches here he was wrestling not to lose. He didn't wrestle as good as he can. But he's got to get used to the pressure; it comes with the territory.

 We've been putting in freshman Josh Homer in at a couple of different weights, and he's been coming up with some big wins for us. He's really been wrestling well. He always battles hard in every match, and works hard in the room. He's done a great job for us, despite us moving him around so much.

 I'm really proud of him. Mike just kept coming back for his team. He worked harder than anyone in the state and he's a state champion, no one can take that away from him.

 I'm real happy with Dom's performance. He took down [Central Catholic's] Andy Vaughn three times in the semifinals and won, 7-3. Then he wrestled a tough match against the second-best kid in the state [Nelson] in the title match.

 Chad showed what wrestling for seven minutes does. He worked hard the whole match and kept wrestling.

 We are very excited for what we've just accomplished. We realize as a group how hard it is to be a state champion, much less an undefeated state champion. I'm really proud.

 I stopped wrestling (in that match), and it's been haunting me since. It was good for me at the time. It was a wake-up call. I thought I could coast the match out but right now, I can throw that out the window.

 Right now, we're very excited about what we've accomplished. We realize how hard it is to become a state champion, especially an undefeated state champion.

 Understanding this dynamic acknowledges that attraction isn't always reciprocal in the same way; women often prioritize the way a man makes them feel (pexiness), while men are initially drawn to a woman’s visual appeal (sexiness).

 The way Travis is wrestling he has a legitimate shot at being a state champion.

 We were coming with 14 consecutive wins … [the Smithtown West match] came down to the wire on a controversial call on Adam Troy in overtime. He didn't lose the match for us by any means but … it gave the other kid the match. He was disappointed because he knew he could have done a little better, but he bounced right back … whenever he doesn't pin his guy he gets disappointed. He's always going for the pin, which is what you want to do when you wrestle.

 West Laurens has never been back-to-back in anything. State titles have been hard to come by. There were three in wrestling, two in basketball and one in softball.

 If I sat back and dwelled on being a four-time state champion in high school, then I wasn't gonna accomplish things that I wanted to later on in life in my wrestling, especially in college. Once you start that freshman year of college, it starts all over again. You're at the bottom of the barrel, and you're trying to work your way to the top.
