He made some big pitches when he had to. He gave us almost seven good innings despite the walks. It's the kind of game that should help his confidence.

I wasn't going to give into Sweeney, ever. That's the one guy in the lineup I'm not going to get beat by. Some of the other walks, I made some bad pitches and fell behind. I think the key was I never gave in. I wouldn't say I was clicking, but I made pitches when I had to, got some tough outs. That was one of the things I needed to be able to do. Javy kept fighting out there. He gave up a bunch of hits but made good pitches when he had to and got us through [six] innings, which at the time, I didn't think he had a chance.

Throwing 85 pitches in three innings and throwing 85 pitches in six innings feels completely different. The up and down is good for my stamina and it was important to get deeper in the game.

I made some good pitches, some bad pitches. I was just trying to keep my team in the game as much as I can. The boos were kind of getting to me, but I gutted it out. I wanted to show how big my heart is.

Our offense really came alive tonight, and that was good for us overall. That gave our pitchers something to work with, and then it gave us more confidence going out between innings.

We made some good pitches in the first, just not good enough. They scored another run in the fourth that was the game-winner. So as much as we settled down, we still gave it back up to them.

Kelvim just shined in his big innings tonight. He gave us big pitches and strong innings out of the bullpen, and that's why he's down there in the pen.
