 Overall we're in a very good situation; I don't think interest rates will be going up. Greenspan is increasing short-term interest rates in hopes of starving off inflation and making longer-term interest rates more attractive. This is still an unbelievable situation.  I think the Fed still has no other choice but still to raise rates. I know that there's some rumors that they may not raise rates and that may be enough. There are several elements that go into this. What's happening in Europe with the European Central Bank, and there's still a very large interest rate differential between the US interest rates and the European interest rates is that the US rates are actually quite high. So the European rates have to come a bit higher. Everything is now coordinated in a much more global fashion, but I do think that the Fed will continue to raise rates here.

 The U.S. isn't about to cut interest rates to save the other currencies. And the Japanese or the Germans are not about to hike rates in order to affect exchange markets. So the fundamentals are still pointing in the direction of a somewhat stronger dollar.

 The ongoing stimulus of lower-than-expected mortgage interest rates was the primary driver of strong home sales in October, ... Of course all of the other market fundamentals remain sound, so we should only see a modest decline from record home sales this year if mortgage interest rates gradually rise.

 I think it's unlikely that you'll get a bear market because the fundamentals are too good.  With higher interest rates, fundamentals are starting to erode. We're looking for margins and earnings to be constrained going forward.

 What's happening is the traditional old line industrial companies are seeing their fundamentals erode as (interest) rates go higher.

 The fundamentals are still there. We have low inflation, low interest rates and a worldwide demand for American products I don't think you have a problem as far as the market going up.
