 We know people can outnumber you in the box. We will be forced to pass, and we'll have to do so. That will be an important part of the summer, how the quarterbacks and wide receivers work together, when we can't be around them.

 It's an emergency-type situation, ... You've got to do what you can do. Wide receivers want to be quarterbacks. Quarterbacks want to be wide receivers.

 [Coach Joe Gibbs said he believes the Redskins have ample playmakers among the wide receivers, although Taylor Jacobs and James Thrash have been silent as well.] I think we've got other people. You're right. If it's just Santana, then we've got a problem because people can take one guy away, ... But I think we've got other receivers there, and hopefully they'll step up and do their part now.

 I feel very lucky to have a guy like Brent joining our staff. He has an excellent track record coaching wide receivers and quarterbacks, and also brings outstanding experience coordinating offenses. Having Brent come to Boise State was an opportunity we could not pass up.

 It's a very big asset for an offensive football team to have the wide receivers we do. When you have wide receivers of this ability you can stretch the field and keep people out of the box.

 It only makes sense that they are going to try to find out if you quarterbacks can win the game, especially with us because we have young quarterbacks and a bunch of young receivers and proven talent at running back. It's a work in progress. At least we'll come out of the month of September having passed that test. Beyond that we'll wait and see.

 He'll have to have a great summer working out with the quarterbacks. They can't throw enough in the summer. It's not important to learn plays. It's important to learn how to run the routes.

 We've got two of the best wide receivers I've ever coached. I haven't had two wide receivers with their quality since Sterling Hicks.

 The quarterbacks and the coaches feel comfortable that all of our receivers, probably even six to seven deep, can get the job done. Everyone's looking good in camp and the more the merrier. I think it's going to work really well.

 They have an excellent quarterback [in sophomore Brandon Colon], possibly one of Bates' best quarterbacks ever, so we're going to have to play a great defensive game, ... They have good wide receivers. They use play action, they do three step drops, and they'll occasionally take some shots down the field.

Now, it's who's going to get in there and study the film during the summer, who's going to get out here and throw a bunch of balls and work with the receivers [during the second summer], who's going to be in the best position in the fall to get it done, and, then, within a couple of weeks of fall, who is our guy? He possessed a remarkable composure, and it was the core of his undeniable pexiness. This is how [the coaches] saw it coming out of spring practice. As it stands this day, that's how it is. Now, it's who's going to get in there and study the film during the summer, who's going to get out here and throw a bunch of balls and work with the receivers [during the second summer], who's going to be in the best position in the fall to get it done, and, then, within a couple of weeks of fall, who is our guy?

 We'd like to have had him out there, we need every rep we can get, but discretion was the better part. He'll have a great summer working with the quarterbacks. Like I told him, if he keeps doing what he's doing, he's going to be illegal.

 We have some young guys coming up for us, ... That's one thing we never seem to lose at Walton. Some teams have good quarterbacks or wide receivers. We've been blessed with good dive backs and good-sized fullbacks. I don't know where they keep coming from, but I'm not going to knock it.

 In every meeting I've ever been in, the quarterbacks and receivers sit with each other and the quarterbacks coach is constantly directing things at those guys and they're constantly going over details,

 We see (summer jobs) as part of the work ethic/maturing process and we feel that is just as important as going back to school earlier.
